Also The Cover Charge Was Ridiculous

Back in Atlantic City, the poker heckler exits into the alley, where Meyer Lansky is waiting for him with a blackjack. He echoes Rothstein's assertion that you never really know a man until you play cards with him. "Allow me to introduce myself," he says, and then pounds the shit out of the guy. But never actually introduces himself! Meyer, you forgot! He is, however, speaking Yiddish as he lays down the beating.

An exhausted-looking Nucky -- I know, I know. How can you tell, right? --makes it back to his room and -- somewhat impressively -- pours himself a drink. He calls for Eddie -- a couple of times -- but Eddie's not there, just Tom.

Eddie is, at that moment, still drunk and seeing off an equally drunk Ralphie off at the train station. They're still singing, with Ralphie promising to learn the words for next time. Now, however, they're being watched, by Agent Knox and another agent. Eddie sees "Bottles" off on the south concourse, and then is immediately stopped by Knox and the other agent. He indignantly says he's done nothing wrong, but Knox begs to differ: "Nucky Thompson's wet nurse out all night up to who knows what?" The agents escort him out of the station. Aw, poor Eddie. I hope he enjoyed his brief run.

Daniel is a writer in Newfoundland with a wife and a daughter. If Willie's plot is some kind of prequel to Animal House, it needs to get a lot funnier soon. Follow him on Twitter (@DanMacEachern) or email him at
